For the holidays, you can’t beat home sweet home. And while I only just moved into this new house last month, I’ve worked quickly to try to make it feel like home. I think a big part of that is because of the time of year - moving right around Thanksgiving and with Christmas on the horizon. I just couldn’t bear the thought of having sad blank walls and moving boxes and no decorations dug out of storage.

As many of you know, just last month Eric and I said goodbye to our very small but very cozy apartment, and moved into a house. For our entire relationship,we have lived in small spaces, and while where we've moved isn't massive, it feels practically palatial to us. It's the first time I've ever had a dining room, so getting to decorate the space has been challenging but fun. For the first part of the tour, I'd like to share the joint living room and dining room as it is right now.

Last week on the blog, I shared Part 1 of our UK Roadtrip. This blog post picks up right where the other one left off - crossing over the border from England into Scotland.

Today I’m excited to share with you part one of my British Roadtrip that I just returned from. We were gone for a total of 11 days, making it one of the longest trips I’ve been on this year - and easily one of my favorite trips ever. We drove all over England, up into Scotland, and back down again over the course of the week and a half, so it’s safe to say we saw a lot. For part one, I’ll be focusing on the first portion - our time in the English countryside before crossing into Scotland.

favorite knits

If you’ve been following me for a while, then you already know that the majority of my closet is made up of denim. But after moving last month and packing up my closet, I realized that the second largest collection in my closet is surely my knitwear. Living in LA means I have a limited amount of time to actually don my cuddly sweaters, but that doesn’t stop me from adding to my closet every year. If you’re looking to grow your collection, scroll down for the knitwear brand currently in heavy rotation in my wardrobe, plus a few styles that I’m dying to add.

There's nothing like leaving packing until the last minute to really force you to pair down your choices. And while in the past I would have tried to bring 10 sweaters (one for every day!) and multiple hat options, I've recently tried to divide and conquer when it comes to my packing. Wearing a knit multiple times, packing only the essential shoes, and sticking to the color palette that I know works for me. So scroll down to see what I'm bringing along.

This year has been a big one for me in a lot of ways, but perhaps the biggest thing that I did this year was finally address my dental problems. If you're like me (and based on the messages I've received, you are), then ignoring something as big as going to the dentist is just something you might do. I guess it's called 'adulting' nowadays, but putting off a daunting as surgery or office visits becomes second nature. At first, it's something easily ignored - but as time goes on, it can become a real problem. It definitely did for me.
