JUST LIKE A WOMAN

As a blogger, it's so easy to have your style narrowed down too far. It becomes second nature to box either yourself or other bloggers into categories. Like "Oh, she's a boho style blogger" or "She's the cutesy one" - when in fact, these labels become so limiting. Many bloggers, and many women too, have styles that bleed into different categories. I myself like a lot of different pieces, but can get stuck on questions like "Should I wear this on my blog?" and "Is this ME enough?". The fact of the matter is, if it's something I like, then it is me. I may be trying out a different style, but it's still ME in there.

So when I saw this Twin Set from Foxsie - I had an initial reaction of both loving it, and wondering if it was my style. I ended up going for it, and I'm so glad I did. These photos ended up with a bit of a Lana Del Rey vibe, and I absolutely love them. It's like a bit of a bad bitch from the 50s, plus a dash of 'Basic Instinct'. It's a more grown-up look for me, but I like the vibe. Now all I need is for the weather to cool down so I can actually wear this look without melting!

  2. I completely agree with you! If you like it, wear it! I hate when people say "I like that, but it's not really me", well if you like it, it obviously is "you". Good for you, for just going for it. This outfit looks great on you :).

  3. You know, I was JUST thinking about this very thing. It's funny, sometimes when I wear something outside of my usual style, and say, post it to my instagram, I actually have people unfollow me. Which is so silly, and like who even cares, but it makes me really think, why is it so unbelievable that I sometimes wear jean shorts instead of a cute skirt or dress? it's like i lose vintage points if I'm not constantly dressed like im living in the 60s. And I hate that because of that, I actually think whether I should share it or not. It's silly, so silly. People should be able to wear whatever the hell they want, and not ever worry that it doesn't go with the image that people have invented for them. I love your style girl. I think you actually have a very wide range, and I think it is very you.

    1. Exactly! I feel the same way about 'losing vintage points' - I cannot be this picture of cutesy-sweetness day in and day out. And when I post something out of my normal way I definitely notice people unfollowing me. Oh well, I suppose people see what they want to see, and the ones who really care will stick around.

  4. That's so true! Personally I've never been able to stick to one type of style and I really love to see other bloggers mixing it up. I'm always really inspired by that and helps me from getting in a rut! You always nail it and I love the variety in your style!
