I'm a big fan of layering. And living in Southern California means I have a limited window to do it. This Summer has been strangely mild, and while I'm expecting a heat wave come September, I'm already practicing layering for Autumn and Winter. Sweaters over dresses is one of my favorite combos. It's the beauty of separates without the discomfort of things becoming un-tucked or being the wrong proportions. If you can find the right sweater, it'll work with most mini dresses. And ladies, I own a lot of mini dresses.
This is also one of those rare outfits where everything is vintage - every single piece. I love when that happens, because it gives me hope that clothing can endure so much. To be able to have a dress or a purse older than my parents that still looks modern and refreshing is a wonderful thing. It's like recycling in such a tangible way.
I scored the dress, purse, and sweater all at different estate sales. I used to only thrift, but lately I've been learning how to go to estate sales. There's such an art-form behind it that I love. I'm the youngest person at the ones I've gone to by about 30 years, but it's so much fun. Lining up in front of a house at 5:30am, just in the hopes that you'll find something entirely your own. That's all I'll say on estate sales at the moment - I have a post on that coming up next week.
For now, I hope you're having a great start to your week. And as a reminder, I'm doing a giveaway of fashion books on my instagram account (@prettylittlefawn) so head there to enter!
