Estate sales, sample sales, yard sales, and thrift stores are all about luck. Yes, you need to have the right eye for discerning which fabrics and cuts will work, and the critical eye that allows you to hold something up and guess if it'll fit you - but luck is the key. You can have all the clothing-skills in the world and still walk away with nothing. Your size could happen to not be there, someone else could have cleaned out all the cute clothing, or there's nothing that suits your taste. Believe me, it happens to me more often than not.
That's why in the end, luck is key. Sometimes the stars align and you happen to score the most amazing find to add to your wardrobe. That's what happened to me last week when I hit up a warehouse sale of vintage clothing. I got there early, was the first one in the door, and walked away with over 20 pieces of vintage clothing for an absolute steal. Totally lucky. This dress was among the things I grabbed, and while the zipper was completely broken, it was only $3! So I had it replaced and now I am in love with this bargain find.
Plus it allowed me to add tons of new items to my Etsy shop, which is always what makes me happy. To know that I can pass on some of the cute things I find to other bargain-driven ladies makes me feel very lucky indeed.
